Need something more interesting than “the guards inspect your papers” when the party reaches town?
These quick gate complications turn arrival into a playable moment without derailing the session. Roll when the party reaches a guarded settlement and use the result to introduce pressure, information, suspicion, or an unexpected opportunity.

System use: Written for D&D 5e, but this table is system-light and can also be used in Pathfinder 2e, Daggerheart, and other fantasy TTRPGs with little or no adaptation.
